Design and Build

The WideMaxx version adds significantly wider a-arms and a broader track width compared to the standard Maxx. The result is a truck that feels planted and stable at speed. The injection-molded chassis is tough and the overall assembly is premium. Traxxas quality control is consistently excellent — ours arrived perfectly dialed out of the box.

Performance on 4S

On 4S the Maxx pulls strong. It's not as violent as 6S or 8S trucks but the power delivery is smooth and controllable, making it excellent for learning. Top speed hits around 50 mph depending on battery. The Velineon brushless system is proven and runs efficiently. For anyone stepping up from brushed or 2S, this is a massive performance jump.

Waterproofing in Practice

We ran the Maxx through puddles, wet grass, and light rain with zero issues. Traxxas's waterproofing is genuine — the electronics are fully sealed. This opens up riding conditions that would destroy most other trucks and is a real advantage if you bash in areas with unpredictable weather.

Parts and Support

This is where Traxxas wins over everyone. Parts are available at hobby shops nationwide, ship fast from online retailers, and are reasonably priced. When something breaks (and it will eventually) you're never stranded. The Traxxas service center also offers repairs for a flat rate which is a unique benefit.

Final Verdict

The Traxxas Maxx V2 is the safest bet in 4S bashing. It's not the flashiest choice but it's the most reliable, and Traxxas support makes ownership easy.
